E3 2021: Firegirl Is The Hottest Firefighting Game I’ve Ever Seen

And the “Hack ‘N Splash” in the tagline made me smile.

Firegirl’s reveal trailer immediately reminded me of the classic “The Firemen” games for the Super Nintendo and Playstation. Firegirl seems to have a lot more going for it than those games ever did though, and I was impressed with the initial footage.

A screenshot from the reveal trailer of Firegirl, where she is blasting a jet of water from her fire hose at some fire monsters on the ceiling.

In Firegirl, players fight fires using the tools of the trade: a powerful water blast from a fire hose, and an axe to help clear away doors and other inanimate obstacles. The main goal is to rescue people from the flames’ destruction. And kudos to developers Dejima for making a game about helping people! It’s nice to see more of that sort of thing.

These aren’t just regular fires though, there are fire monsters living inside the flames in this fantasy world! The trailer shows many of the game’s progression systems, and it looks like there will be a lot of customization and upgrades for folks to enjoy. Players can recruit characters to their cause, and upgrade the facilities of their firehouse, just to name a few examples.

The creators describe Firegirl as a “roguelite firefighting platformer” so if that sounds like your thing, check out their fantastic reveal trailer below, or head on over to the game’s website for more.
